Middle Years Coordinator’s Message

Esra Yildirim-Bas
Dear Parents/ Guardians
I am happy to welcome all students to the 2017 academic school year.
My name is Mrs Esra Yildirim-Bas. This year I am teaching Grade 4A and I am the Middle Years Coordinator. This is my sixth year of teaching at Sirius College and I am happy to work with dedicated teachers, staff and families. It has been wonderful to see the children return to school with a big smile. All of the students appear to be settling in quite well, whether they are familiar faces or new to our school community. I am looking forward to making 2017 a memorable year together.
Here are a few important reminders for parents and students:
- School starts at 8:50 am and students are dismissed at 3:35pm. For the safety of your child, please ensure your child/children are at school no earlier than 8:30am and that you come and collect your child/children before 4:00pm. There will be no supervision before or after these times and these are the times, most accidents happen.
- If you’re packing a lunch for your child, please note that we have a number of children who have nut allergies. It is important that classroom snacks be free of all nut products. Parents will need to supply the classroom teachers with any action plans anaphylactic/ asthma and puffers/ epipens.
Please note: No BIRTHDAY CAKES, LOLLY BAGS & parties in class.
- We also encourage students to bring fruit and have healthy snack/ lunch.
- Lunches can be ordered from the school canteen. Please ensure lunch orders are written on a lunch order bag with the money inside.
- Homework booklets for this term have been distributed and students are required to complete their weekly homework.
- Reading Eggs Task are due on Tuesdays
- Mathletics Task and Maths Plus Homework are due on Thursdays
- Homework Booklet tasks are due on Friday.
- Students need to read nightly
Please ensure your child completes his/her homework regularly and sign the booklet daily.
- During Term One and Four, students must wear their hat as the school supports the “no hat no play†policy to promote sunsmart awareness.
- Previously we had students losing their items such as jackets, hats etc. Please label everything with your child’s name to keep our ‘lost and found’ items at a minimum.
If you have any questions, or if you feel there is anything I should know about your child, please make an appointment at the office or you can call the school and leave a message for me. Thank you for your cooperation in advance, I am looking forward to a great year with your child.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Esra Yildirim- Bas
Middle Coordinator (Year Three and Four)
